THE WAREHOUSE
Located at Kean University on the site beside the Elizabeth river before the graduate student housing complex lies a warehouse with a sq. footage of 120' x 360'. Within this warehouse houses a component of the fourth Industrial revolution where additive manufacturing creates components for different professional fields. With this project an increasing variety of goods could be produced with the technology used within. This emerging technology continues to attract large investment from companies and research institutions because of its potential application to almost every industry. This warehouse is divided into three units, one for loading and storage, the manufacturing process, and the business/education area. Large factory windows with kalwall technology is used to repress the harsh sunlight while also allowing natural light flood into the loading dock and manufacturing floor. In order to create a direct connection with the customer and employee an outdoor corridor is carved out from the form of the warehouse where customers can access the conference room in which was assigned to by the employee. By utilizing classrooms and a large green roof students from Kean university could brainstorm and learn about the importance of additive manufacturing.
